FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTION

Please read the instructions below before updating the firmware.

Check current firmware version of your device, for this go to your device’s main menu to option “Info” or “Version” and check what number you have. Compare the number with the latest version of the firmware on the AGM website.

Download the firmware update package to your PC and unzip it.

NOTE: Do not open the DAV or BIN file on your computer as it may corrupt the file.

Connect the thermal device to your PC with USB cable.
Turn on the thermal device.
Disable the Wi-Fi Hotspot function in the device menu if WiFi is enabled.
Open the detected disk (USB drive) in file manager program. Copy the unzipped .dav file and paste it to the root directory of the device.
Turn off the device.
Turn on the device. After a while, the firmware update process will start automatically. During the update, the screen will display the inscription "Upgrading ...". The update process will be completed when the inscription "Upgrading ..." goes out. Repeat steps 4-6 for each updating file.
Turn off the device and disconnect it from your PC.

WARNING:
If your device does not have a built-in rechargeable battery and is powered by replaceable Lithium batteries, remove the batteries from the battery compartment before connecting the device to your PC, or it may cause computer damage.

If you removed the batteries, please make sure the device is connected to the computer during the update process. Otherwise, the device will shut off and may cause unnecessary upgrade failure, firmware damage, etc.

To begin the procedure for updating the firmware of your equipment, you must confirm that you are familiar with and agree to the "AGM GLOBAL VISION" Export Policy («AGM GLOBAL VISION» Export Policy). By continuing the process of updating your device, you are confirming that you received this device legally and in compliance with all applicable US export laws and that you are not on the Banned Persons List and/or are not affiliated with any of the Banned Persons as defined by the US Government.
If these conditions are met, please check the box on the left and follow the instructions for updating the hardware firmware.

I'm a remodeling contractor/former oilfield mechanic/ and I study Texas' wild cats in my free time and I'm a veteran storm chaser.

I've used this daily in the Houston area from dec 17 until Jan 2, which means I have now tested it in all 4 seasons (seriously it was 90 yesterday and 35 at the same time today) and it performs better than I ever expected in all conditions.

The big thing is daylight storm chasing. I can now actually SEE the updraft/downdraft of storms in a resolution that literally makes me giggle... Clouds are clouds to your eyes 90% of the time and this fixes that issue.

This will also be a tremendous tool in search and recovery which is the hardest part of being a storm chaser. Some days you are the first responder.

So yeah long story short... the future is here! It will do everything you need for basic home, sub 200 degree automotive work, and wildlife identification under 100yds at 80 degrees.

Taipan is a great choice at a reasonable price. I was looking for a thermal imaging device for a very long time, watched many videos on YouTube, read lots of articles. I was looking for something for my small budget. AGM needs to promote itself better, as I found this device by accident. But, I am very pleased with my purchase
